BikeLane Creating the Taiwan Cycling Island

Cycling and Health Tech Industry R&D Center
The cycling industry used to be one of the driving forces behind Taiwan's economic miracle”. The challenges posed by globalization, however mean it is also feeling tremendous pressure to transform. In this program we established the Bikelane Association, and through the Bikelane service and system integration center integrated marketing and distribution resources. The result is an innovative joint business model that offers R&D results and services in storage and shipment, lease and rental as well as touring. By using Taiwan's internationally competitive cycling industry and geography as the basis, we injected knowledge-based added-value aspects such as environmental friendliness, health and recreation into the mix to transform cycling into a premium strategic service. The resulting benefits not only brought the academia, research sector, local government and public transport operators together to construct a cycling environment but also provided a boost to local tourism industries.
