R&D Incentives

The R&D Center Program Review Committee would make a comprehensive appraisal to determine the incentive schemes including: human resources support, funding assistance, tax incentives and other applicant services.

Taiwan's Technological R&D Competitiveness

Technology and innovation has been essential to Taiwan's global competitiveness. Over the years, the DoIT's TDPs have accumulated a wealth of R&D capabilities and technological results as well as universal acclaim for the development of industrial technology in Taiwan. In recent years, Taiwan has risen to the forefront in the technological rankings conducted by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), a feat reflecting Taiwan's crucial role in terms of technology R&D and innovation capability worldwide.

Encouraging Foreign Enterprises to Establish R&D Centers in Taiwan

With the aims to attract international R&D investments in Taiwan, connect Taiwan with global R&D resources, and elevate Taiwan’s position in the global operations of multinational companies, the DoIT offers a range of incentives to encourage multinationals to set up regional R&D centers in Taiwan. The Multinational Innovative R&D Centers in Taiwan Program was first implemented in 2002. To date, there are over 139 domestic companies and 52 multinational R&D centers established by companies such as HP, Microsoft, ASML, DuPont, Intel, IBM, Alcatel-Lucent, Sony, Synopsys, UL, IMEC, TEL, Elpida, etc.

Multinational Innovative R&D center in Taiwan

"The Program of Multinational Innovative R&D center in Taiwan" is an important element in the International Innovation and R&D Base Plan, which forms part of the National Development Plan. The aim is to get multinational corporations collaborating with local Taiwanese firms so that Taiwan can establish itself as a regional R&D center within the Asia Pacific region. This in turn will help to support multinational production activities, thereby enhancing the role which Taiwan plays in global R&D, giving the R&D activity of Taiwanese industry greater depth and encouraging Taiwanese companies to focus on cutting-edge research.
