DGXII為歐盟執委會下負責科技研究發展政策的研究機構，主要賦予之任務：
1.建立歐盟在研究與技術發展上的策略，包括支援跨國研究，強化歐盟工業體質，支援歐盟在環境、醫療、教育、能源等主題研究。
2.聯合歐洲大學與研究中心，規劃合作研究計劃，監督計劃執行進度。目前合作研究計劃為第四期(1994-1998)，經費為13.1億歐元。
3.提昇歐盟國家的科技知識水準，並激發歐盟各國研究討論風氣。
DGXII總署下分設許多執行部門： (1)資訊科技；(2)傳統工業；(3)能源環保；(4)交通運輸；(5)農業生產；(6)教育幼保。 |

Eurostat的主要任務是蒐集15個會員國的國家資訊機構之統計資料，並加以分析處理，以提供歐盟國家高素質的統計資訊服務。
在考量歐盟國家的需要後,未來幾年將進行統計調查的主要目標如下：
(1)工業產品與產地；
(2)服務業；
(3)社會狀況；
(4)尖端科技；
(5)學術研究；
(6)會員國行政措施；
(7)與非會員國間的經貿外交關係。 |
